The Bio-Chemical Process by which ‘The Food that we Eat’, gets transformed into The Body Tissues, and enables it to be used by the body, is ‘Anabolism’. The Process by which the energy is released by breaking down of the body tissues (including the formation of waste products) is called Catabolism.
The two together are called Metabolism. There are many Nutrients Required by our Body. Few are required in comparatively Large Amounts, Few Comparatively Lesser Amounts, and Few Just in Trace Quantities. This is how I have listed down the various Nutrients Required by our Body:
Macro-Nutrients Required by Our body: These are:
Carbohydrates, Proteins & Fats. These would mostly comprise of The Elements: Hydrogen, Carbon, Oxygen & Nitrogen.
The Three ‘Carbohydrates, Proteins & Fats’ are covered in three different Posts.
Micro-Nutrients Required by Our body: These are: Vitamins & Minerals. Brief on the Two:
Vitamins: These are not synthesised in the body in sufficient quantities required by the body and need to be taken via food sources that we take in. vitamins are required in minimal quantities as compared to macro-nutrients such as minerals or fats (To perform Numerous Bio-Chemical Functions in The Body) and are classified based on their biological and chemical activity. Vitamins could be Water or Fat based.
Water-Based Vitamins are: These are not stored in the Body. Water-Soluble Vitamins are:
B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B7, B9 (Folic Acid), B12 & Vitamin-C.
Fat-Based—Fat Soluble Vitamins are: A, D, E & K.
Details on all of the above Vitamins have been covered via Separate Posts for Each.
Minerals: Here-in I am listing various Elements required by our Body. These Elements individually or in combination would also form the other nutrients. Again, The Elements required by The Body have been classified as Macro, Micro & Trace Elements.
Macro Elements are Potassium, Sodium, Calcium, Magnesium, Chloride, Phosphorous & Sulphur. The Macro, Micro & Trace Elements are involved in the manufacturing-functioning of all other nutrients (Carbohydrates, Vitamins…) required by the body. The Daily Recommended value for these elements exceeds 100 mg/Day.
Micro Elements are Copper, Iron, Zinc, Chromium, Cobalt, Iodine, Molybdenum, Fluorine, and Selenium. The Deficiency of These Micro Elements may lead to various disorders in the Body & May even be Fatal. The Daily Recommended value for these Micro-Elements is Below 100 mg/Day.
There are Many Nutrients, including Specific Vitamins, Minerals and More which are required by Our Body in Trace Quantities. The Trace Nutrients-Including Elements are still essential for proper Human Body Functioning.
Few Trace Elements are Cadmium, Germanium, Manganese, Nickle, Silica, Tin & Vanadium.
Few Elements not required by the Body, or Whose Presence may even lead to Toxicity are Aluminium, Mercury & Lead.
Other Trace-Nutrients Required by Our body: These are:
The Human Enzyme System: Few Trace Elements Required for proper functioning of Human Enzyme System are: Cu, Fe, Zn, Cr, Co, Mn, Selenium, F, I…
Details on all of the above Minerals (Macro-Micro-Trace) have been covered via Separate Posts for Each.
Well friends, this is a Complex Topic and would involve much more, such as Many useful-required bacteria in our Gut would also form part of Nutrients! What I am going to be listing in the Upcoming Many Posts would mainly be Macro-Micro Nutrients, Deficiency of which is responsible for so large number of ailments and which, with proper-organic-healthy diet, purely in my opinion, should not be such a big thing to keep away from!
