Homeopaths widely use Herbal Extracts, to cure many of the ailments. Now, in India at least, many of the Homoeopathic medicines are available OTC (Over The Counter), and it would definitely not harm to know at least few Herbal/Mother Tinctures, which have huge benefits. This small article is being written from the perspective, that at places Ayurvedic raw materials or other forms of Ayurvedic medicines might not be available, but Homeopathic tinctures may be easily procured.
Homeopathic Mother Tinctures: Homeopathic mother tinctures are made from herbs and are used extensively for organ support. They have Herb-Alcohol ratio of one part of Herbal Extract to nine parts alcohol, (i.e. A Potency of 1x). These are more diluted than the Herbal tinctures, and hence are considered safer. 4-10 drops (depending upon the situation/severity of the ailment) of Homeopathic Mother Tinctures are administered 2 or 3 times a day mixed in appropriate amount of water.
Herbal Tinctures: Herbal Tinctures have a Herb-Alcohol ratio of 1 part of Herbal Extract to 3-5 parts alcohol, and are thus much more concentrated than The Homeopathic Mother Tincture, and hence should be used with more care and caution. Being concentrated, they normally would have more of the organic mineral content in them than the Mother tinctures, and thus can be more appropriate, especially if carrying out ‘Supplementation Therapy’ for an individual. Usual Dose would be 8-16 drops in water, taken twice a day (Or, As Appropriate to the Condition of Doshas in The Body).
I have tried a lot, contacting quite a few retailers selling homeopathic medicines, and have discovered that Herbal Tinctures are mostly not available easily, and most companies and shops are producing/selling Mother Tinctures only. I guess, this has to do with the increased concentration of the herbal extracts, which might have adverse effects in Acute Cases.
